Camas councilors to revive ward meetings

CAMAS — After several years, Camas city councilors are bringing back ward meetings to encourage local residents to share ideas, concerns and questions with their local representatives.

Residents can find out which ward they live in by visiting Clark County Maps Online, gis.clark.wa.gov/mapsonline/index.cfm, and searching for their street address or tax identification number.

The plan is to hold two ward meetings a year, one in spring and one in fall, for each ward. The upcoming spring ward meeting schedule is:

• Ward 1 will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. April 27 at Camas City Hall, 616 N.E. Fourth Ave., with councilors Deanna Rusch and Melissa Smith.

• Ward 2 will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. May 19 at Camas City Hall, 616 N.E. Fourth Ave., with councilors Bonnie Carter and Steve Hogan.

• Ward 3 will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 29 in the library at Dorothy Fox Elementary School, 2623 N.W. Sierra St., with councilors Ellen Burton and Greg Anderson

“As community and regional growth continues, the city of Camas wants to make sure that all residents keep having a voice in the issues that affect them,” Mayor Shannon Turk said in a news release from the city. “I believe the smaller setting of local ward meetings will have a big impact on making valuable connections across Camas.”
