It’s a fresh start at a familiar place for Dave McIntosh.

McIntosh, Mountain View’s girls basketball coach the last three years, takes over Battle Ground’s girls basketball program, he said Wednesday.

McIntosh replaces Lisa May, who resigned last month.

While McIntosh is new to the Tigers’ program, he isn’t new to the school. He spent his first two years teaching at Battle Ground. McIntosh is in his fifth year teaching and third at Mountain View as a special education teacher. He views Battle Ground as a unique place that sets itself apart from Vancouver.

“I love the people up there,” he said. “When my wife and I weighed the pros and cons, it made sense.

“It’s a true town and a true community.”

Battle Ground went 5-15 last season and while it went winless in the 4A Greater St. League, McIntosh senses players are eager to get back in the gym.

“They’re hungry for success,” he said.
