Burn pile explosion causes injuries

One person suffered serious injuries Sunday afternoon after a burn pile exploded in Hockinson.

Emergency crews responded to 20609 N.E. 164th St. shortly after 1 p.m. A person, whose identity was not provided, was tending to a burn pile when it exploded, Clark County Fire District 3 Capt. Larry Bauska said.

The person was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries, Bauska said. The Clark County Fire Mashal’s Office is investigating the incident.
