Local stars dance, raise $17,000 for Rotary projects

Ridgefield — Kelley Campbell took home Best Dance and Grand Champion honors at the Rotary Club of Three Creeks’ Dancing with the Local Stars fundraiser on March 23, which was themed “A Night at the Movies.” Campbell, owner of Specialty Graphic Solutions in Salmon Creek, performed a hustle with instructor Aaron Siebol to “Disco Inferno” from “Saturday Night Fever.” She raised $4,063 for the Rotary Club, followed by Mill Creek Pub owner Russell Brent’s $4,033 and Mike Filbin, owner of Filbin’s Ace Hardware, who raised the third-highest amount at $3,134. Kevin Getch, owner of Webfor, was second in the judges’ scores for his Viennese waltz to “Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” Brent performed to “Can’t Fight this Feeling” from the movie “Trolls,” Filbin danced to “Old Time Rock ‘n’ Roll” from “Risky Business,” Ridgefield City Councilor Sandra Day performed the role of Sandra Dee to “You’re the One That I Want” from “Grease” and Maureen Montague of Columbia Springs performed to “Dancing Queen” from “Mamma Mia.” The fundraiser brought in nearly $17,000 for youth leadership, literacy programs and service projects.
