A pair of Clark County natives helped the Clark College baseball team to a sweep in the Penguins league openers.

Freshman Alan Becklehimer pitched a three-hit complete game as the Clark beat Southwestern Oregon 6-1 Friday in the first game of an NWAC South doubleheader at Coos Bay, Ore.

In the second game, freshman Josiah Nickel, a Prairie High grad, scattered six hits while striking out six in a 10-3 win.

Becklehimer, a Heritage High grad, struck out eight and walked one in nine innings. The one run was unearned.

Lucas Gregory, a Mountain View grad, drove in two runs, and Grant Francis, also a Mountain View grad,  and Kai Perreira each went 2 for 3.

A pair of four-run innings helped the Penguins to the second game victory. Connor Wojahn was 2 for 2 with five RBI.

These were Clark’s first game since March 31. The Penguins (13-11, 2-0) have two more games today at Coos Bay.
