Camas Slough Bridge to close for inspection

State Highway 14 over the Camas Slough Bridge will see full closures along the eastbound lanes over some of the weekend due to bridge inspection work, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The eastbound lanes of the bridge will be closed from 6 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The westbound lanes will stay open.

During the closures, crews will use a truck built for under-bridge inspection to work below the roadway and evaluate the bridge structure, according to WSDOT. The vehicle takes up most of the roadway when in operation, leaving no room for passing traffic, hence the closure.

Drivers can get around the closure by following a signed detour route through Camas onto sections of Northwest Sixth Avenue, Northeast Sixth Avenue, Northeast Adams Street and Northeast Third Avenue, WSDOT said.

The added traffic may cause minor delays in Camas, so WSDOT advises drivers to add extra time to their trip plans.

The Camas Slough Bridge over the highway is inspected every two years and carries an average of 29,000 daily travelers, according to WSDOT.
