An intense fire destroyed a garage Tuesday in Camas, but firefighters were able to stop it from spreading to an adjacent home.
Crews with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department were dispatched at 11:20 a.m. to the 2200 block of Northwest 23rd Avenue for a report of a shop or garage fire.
The first crew to arrive reported that a shop was ablaze, and the house at the address was about 8 feet from the burning structure, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
The fire did not spread to the nearby home, according to a news release from the fire department, but an accessory dwelling behind the garage was damaged. The garage and its contents were destroyed. Two motorcycles and a propane grill were inside, according to the scanner.
