Family and friends of Ariel Romano will hold a memorial event for the community from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Faith Center Church, 10702 N.E. 117th Ave.

Romano, 29, was fatally shot on state Highway 503 following what authorities have described as a drug deal gone wrong June 9.

He was reportedly fleeing from Raul Flores, 44, and Jonathan “Jon Jon” Oson, 36, in a Toyota Corolla when Flores allegedly shot him in the head near Northeast 119th Street. Romano’s car went off the road and crashed near Prairie High School, according to Clark County Superior Court records.

The celebration of life for Romano will feature live music, reading of his obituary and a statement from law enforcement, a presentation by Pastor Treneil Washington of Portland’s Deliverance Center of Generation X, speeches by Romano’s parents and siblings, and reminders for resources available to those struggling with substance abuse.

Audience members will also be invited to share stories.

Donations are being accepted for the Ariel Joseph Romano Memorial Fund, which will be used for children of the addiction community.
