Ridgefield — The first new school built in Ridgefield in 40-plus years, Sunset Ridge Intermediate School, was the site of a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 8. The school is part of a new grades five through eight campus along with the replacement View Ridge Middle School. The campus, which opened at the start of this school year, is a two-story, 145,000-square-foot facility with 44 classrooms, two gymnasiums, a multipurpose/wrestling facility, a library media center, a life skills suite, band and choir rooms and a black box theater. The campus was funded thanks to a $78 million bond passed by district voters in February 2017.
