How Clark County college football players fared, Sept. 22

By Micah Rice, Columbian Sports Editor

Some football games are crazier than others.

Zach Lacey, a senior from Woodland, played a key role in one of Saturday’s wildest games. The defensive end blocked a field goal in triple overtime to clinch Eastern Oregon’s 54-51 win over Montana Western.

Eastern Oregon (2-2) led 41-13 after three quarters. But Montana Western, ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, scored 28 unanswered points to force overtime.

The teams traded field goals in the first overtime and touchdowns in the second. Then, after EOU made a 39-yard field goal, Lacey came through with a block to end a game where the teams combined for 1,036 total yards.

Lacey finished with three tackles, including one sack for minus-5 yards. He has 12 tackles on the season.

Also playing a role for Eastern Oregon were Bailey Buckner, a redshirt freshman from Battle Ground who recovered a fumble, and Jarred Telles, a sophomore from Evergreen, who had two tackles.
