The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has found what it says it thinks is the vehicle involved in a Wednesday night hit-and-run crash that injured a 13-year-old girl.
The vehicle, a gray 2001 Jeep Cherokee, had been reported stolen in Vancouver on Wednesday before the hit-and-run in the 3000 block of Northeast 88th Street. The vehicle has been seized, and evidence inside the vehicle is being processed as detectives continue to investigate the case.
The sheriff’s office did not release the girl’s name, but Nicole Oana identified the victim as her daughter, Halie, who had been crossing the road from nearby Tenny Creek Neighborhood Park with her brother at about 7 p.m. when she was hit.
Halie was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and transferred to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, according to her mother. The girl has many bumps and bruises, and doctors say her right tibia has a spiral fracture for which they recommend surgery.
A witness told deputies they saw the Jeep driving erratically before the incident. The suspect vehicle was also seen driving on the wrong side of Northeast 88th Street, according to an earlier sheriff’s office report.
