For the next three days, we have a similar weather pattern that we have had the past couple of weeks with a large trough of low pressure off the coast and impulses skirting by to our north. Even though we run a risk of a shower or two later today through early Saturday, rainfall amounts would be quite light. Forecast models show rainfall remaining north of the Columbia River, which I know includes Clark County.
But basically, the only real threat of a little light rain would be Friday evening into early Saturday before autumn officially arrives at 6:54 p.m. Saturday. With the change of seasons comes yet another change in the weather pattern.
High pressure builds inland and offers us some really nice fall weather: warm and dry Sunday through midweek at least, maybe longer. East winds are a possibility early next week with highs shooting into the 80s. Do I see another 90-degree day? Roll the dice. No worry — it will cool off quickly this time of the year.
The remainder of September into early October calls for the weather to be warmer and drier than average, according to the National Climate Center. If so, that would be a welcome forecast. Plenty of time for all that wet and cold stuff.
