Evergreen was undone by turnovers, committing six of them after a long trip to Lakewood.
“And all six of those turnovers led to Lakewood points,” Evergreen coach Terry Hyde said.
“Turnovers kills us tonight. That’s a very good team we played, and you know what happened with give a good football team opportunities.”
Lakewood drove the field for its first touchdown and a 8-0 lead in the first quarter. But an Plainsmen turnover allowed Lakewood to lead 16-0 at halftime.
Evergreen got on the board with a 26-yard field goal by Eli Del-Angel in the third quarter, but Lakewood pulled away.
Eli Vaa-Leiataua rushed for 97 yards for Evergreen.
