The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Aliso Viejo, Calif., recently awarded a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence to the intensive care unit at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

The Beacon Award, according to a Legacy press release, recognizes “unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s five Healthy Work Environment Standards.” Those five standards are: leadership structures and systems; appropriate staffing and staff engagement; effective communication, knowledge management, learning and development; evidence-based practices and processes; outcome measurement.

Only 11 hospitals in Washington have received the award.

“We’re so proud of our team in the ICU,” Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center President Bryce Helgerson said.

“Our staff is always looking for ways to improve patient outcomes and provide top-notch care to members of this community. This award affirms their excellent work.”
