Weather Eye: Fall temperatures afoot; weekend may not be warm, dry

All eyes are on the destructive Hurricane Florence about ready to impact the East Coast and especially the Carolinas. Our prayers and best thoughts are with them during this major storm event.

Meanwhile, we have had scattered showers and thundershowers as well across Western Washington. Rainfall amounts varied as is the nature of this type of unstable air mass. There were places along the coast that only had a few hundredths of an inch Tuesday while areas of Clark County had over one-half inch of rain.

Heavier showers were occurring Wednesday as the coldest air aloft worked its way inland. Yet another weather system slides down the British Columbia coast and keeps the showers and isolated thunderstorms going through Saturday, maybe even early Sunday.

The other day it appeared we would have a nice warm and dry weekend. That went out the window in a hurry. These weather systems have a mind of their own and despite excellent computer forecast models nowadays, they can throw a curveball.
