Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

Bloodworks Northwest seeks ambassadors, monitors, and volunteers to register donors during various shifts.

Clark County Public Works — Parks Division seeks volunteer help, 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 29 at Blurock Landing, south of Frenchman’s Bar. Pick up litter to prevent it from entering the oceans. Volunteers must be able navigate uneven terrain, bend, crouch, kneel and reach. Register at 360-397-2285, ext. 1679.

Columbia Springs seeks volunteer education assistants to help with school field trips. Applications are being accepted now and training is on Oct. 2. People with scientific or natural history backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. Volunteers help the students one-on-one or in small groups, and help with logistical tasks. Education assistants also host outreach booths at off-site events or during events at Columbia Springs. Volunteers must be mobile and available for two or more field trips monthly, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Furry Friends, a no-kill cat shelter, seeks volunteers to help the felines stay clean and comfortable. Must follow protocols and procedures, be dependable, willing and able to clean litter boxes, wash/dry bedding; sweep/vacuum/mop, feed and water, medicate as needed and play and socialize with the cats. Shifts are Monday through Thursday morning, and Friday evening.

Project Yes! The Yarn Engagement Society, a new volunteer opportunity, is coordinated by Volunteer Connections. People who knit or crochet make weather items to donate for others in need. Volunteers can work from home with their own yarn, or with donated yarn. Email volunteerconnections@hsc-wa.org or call 360-735-3693
