The Western Washington women’s soccer team is No. 9 in the NCAA Division-II national rankings.
Taylor Hallquist, a senior defender from Columbia River, is a big reason why.
Hallquist had two assists in a 2-1 win over No. 7 Metropolitan State-Denver on Sunday. That came after she scored a goal in the Vikings’ 4-0 victory over Holy Names on Friday.
Monday, Hallquist was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference defensive player of the week.
“Taylor has been a catalyst for our team this season and was very productive on both defense and offense in our two games last week,” head coach Travis Connell told wwuvikings.com. “She is a fiery competitor and has been a great contributor for us.”
Another Clark County player also played a big role in those two Vikings victories. Grace Eversaul, a sophomore from Skyview, scored the tying goal with a header in the 70th minute against MSU-Denver. She also scored against Holy Names.
