Nominees for Week 1 fall sports prep athlete of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 8.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

To avoid vote manipulation, voting is restricted by IP address. That means people voting while connected to a public WIFI access may be unable vote. We suggest voting be done by private internet access or through your cellular provider.

ANTHONY CHAE, SKYVIEW BOYS GOLF: Chae shot a 2-under par 35 at Tri-Mountain and a 3-under-par 34 on the same course two days later.

GABRIEL DINNEL, WASHOUGAL BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The senior set a course record in winning the 4A-1A race at Ultimook Nike Invitational near Tillamook, Ore.

MERI DUNFORD, PRAIRIE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Dunford won the junior race at the Capital Invitational in Olympia.

DELANEY NICOLL, RIDGEFIELD VOLLEYBALL: Nicoll had 24 kills, 30 assists, 10 digs and five aces in two wins for the Spudders.

JOCELYN RAY, FORT VANCOUVER GIRLS SOCCER: The junior scored five goals as the Trappers beat Stevenson for their first win in five years.
