A man at their door demanded a couple’s car keys at gunpoint early Monday morning in the Maplewood neighborhood.

Officers were called to the 350 block of East 21st Street around 2:20 a.m. Monday for a report of a disturbance with a weapon, according to emergency dispatch logs.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said one of the residents told officers he had returned home and, shortly after, a man arrived at his front door.

His girlfriend opened the door, then the man produced a gun and demanded the keys to their white 1997 Volkswagen Passat.

He took the car and left. Officers did not locate the suspect, Kapp said.
