How Clark County college football players fared, Sept. 8

By Micah Rice, Columbian Sports Editor

Roldan Alcobendas is drawing closer to an honored spot in Eastern Washington football history.

The senior from Camas is just 18 points shy of the school’s career scoring record.

In a 31-26 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday, Alcobendas kicked a 40-yard field goal and made all four of his extra points.

That gives him 218 points, bringing him closer to the career record held by Troy Griggs, who kicked from 1999-2001.

Alcobendas also assumed full-time punting duties this year. After EWU didn’t punt in their season opener, Alcobendas showed he’s up for the job on Saturday. He punted five times for a 45.6-yard average.

Alcobendas is in his sixth year at Eastern Washington. Knee injuries caused him to miss most of the 2013 and 2015 seasons, and he successfully appealed for a sixth year of eligibility prior to this season.
