Seton Catholic’s defense rose to the challenge, but penalties and mistakes cost the Cougars on the road.
After Tacoma-area Charles Wright Academy scored a first-quarter touchdown, Seton clawed back in the second quarter. Quarterback Michael Silveira scored on a 12-yard run, but the point-after attempt missed.
Seton Catholic (1-1) had chances to take the lead. The Cougars got as close as the 10 before penalties killed the promising drive.
With four minutes to play, a 30-yard field goal attempt was blocked.
“Our defense did the job,” Cougars coach Will Ephraim said. “They were in our red zone several times and we kept them out.”
