Up to $6.04 million from Vancouver’s taxpayer-funded Affordable Housing Fund is available for projects that preserve or create affordable housing for low-income residents.
Grants go toward projects that house people earning 50 percent or less of the area median income, which comes out to $36,650 for a four-person family. “Creative and out-of-the-box ideas are welcomed,” the city said in a news release Wednesday.
Local government agencies, nonprofits, for-profit developers and individuals may apply for funding.
Grant applications are available at www.cityofvancouver.us/affordablehousingfund and due by 5 p.m. Oct. 31. An optional workshop for interested applicants is 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Aspen Room at City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.
For application guidelines in another format or language, contact Peggy Sheehan at peggy.sheehan@cityofvancouver.us or call 360-487-7952, text teletype (TTY) 360-487-8602, or Washington Relay 711.
In January, the city will determine which projects get funding.
