The Camas-Washougal Fire Department received a $1,000 stipend to put on a live demonstration to educate homeowners about home fire sprinklers.
The department said its demonstration will include two similarly furnished rooms, one with and the other without fire sprinklers.
The object of the demonstration will be to show how quickly a house fire can grow and how well sprinklers work in abating them, according to the department.
The display is scheduled for around 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at the department’s Grass Valley Station, 4321 Parker St., Camas, as part of the department’s Open House and Health and Safety Fair.
The stipend comes from the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, a national nonprofit supported by various firefighting, insurance, government and other industry and professional groups.
