Vancouver Lake lifted from health advisory

Clark County Public Health lifted all health advisories for Vancouver Lake on Wednesday, according to a Public Health press release. Cyanobacteria blooms are no longer present at any areas of the lake that are easily accessible to the public.

Public Health had been monitoring the algae blooms since July, when the blue-green algae was formed at Burnt Bridge Creek Inlet and the flushing channel near the swim beach.

The lake was placed under an advisory, and Public Health posted caution signs warning lake visitors.

Public Health upgraded that advisory last week to a warning when test results showed elevated levels of cyanotoxins in the water at the Burnt Bridge Creek inlet. Blooms were present at the swim beach and flushing channel, but those areas didn’t have elevated toxin levels, the press release states.

Public Health visited the lake Tuesday and Wednesday, and blooms were no longer present at any of those locations. The warning signs will be removed.

Public Health is concluding its routine monitoring of swim beaches for the season, which includes Klineline Pond and Battle Ground Lake. Public Health will still respond to reported health concerns about the bodies of water.
