Woodland — The city of Woodland named Kathy Morrison its Employee of the Year and John “JJ” Burke its Volunteer of the Year. Morrison was hired as a clerk by the Public Works department in April 2017. She was honored for treating everyone with dignity and respect, demonstrating integrity and celebrating the success of others. Burke, currently employed by the Woodland Chamber of Commerce, has lived in the city for 26 years. He’s a former city councilor, and has served as president of Planters Days, the Woodland Historical Museum and Woodland Grange Hall and treasurer of the Lower Columbia Amateur Radio Club. He also served on the boards of the Downtown Revitalization Committee, the Lodging Tax Advisory/Big Idea Committee and Salary Commission for the city.
