In case you missed them, here are some of the top stories from the week:

LuLaRoe gig leaves vendors with clothes they’re unable to sell

Consignment stores traditionally sell gently used items. But on a recent afternoon at Spanky’s Legendary Consignment on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard, the racks were flush with brand-new clothes: 24 pairs of one-size-fits-all leggings, 35 dresses, a handful of skirts on the clearance rack.

These days it’s not an unusual sight, said Spanky’s owner, Rachel Phillips. Never-worn pieces from LuLaRoe, a multilevel marketing company that sells soft, comfortable clothing designed to fit all body types, are being consigned to the store in huge batches. Cut from stretchy material, the garment brand is known for its geometric and floral-patterned leggings, printed T-shirts and modestly cut dresses.

Woman ejected from vehicle in fatal Vancouver freeway crash

A woman fleeing police was ejected from her vehicle and killed Tuesday morning in a rollover crash near the Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 split.

A Washington State Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a white 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor about 9:40 a.m. on southbound I-5 at Milepost 17 for speeding, according to Trooper Will Finn.

Southeast Mill Plain Safeway store will close by Dec. 1

Safeway will close its store at 13719 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. in east Vancouver by Dec. 1, the company said Thursday.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to come to a lease agreement with the current landlord,” Safeway spokeswoman Jill McGinnis said in an email. “Our team is working with the affected employees and the labor unions, where applicable, and anticipate placing 100 percent of the employees in neighboring stores.”

Highway 500 weekend closure canceled due to wet weather

This weekend’s closure of a section of state Highway 500 in Vancouver has been canceled due to forecasted rain.

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation had planned to remove the stop lights at the intersections of Northeast 42nd Avenue/Falk Road and Northeast 54th Avenue/Stapleton Road and replace them with right-in/right-out interchanges.

Patriot Prayer rally at closed Clark campus attracts mostly media

Several dozen right-wing demonstrators rallied at a nearly empty Clark College campus Monday, offering a taste of what’s to come as the group protests on college campuses this week.

Patriot Prayer, led by Joey Gibson of Camas, gathered around the Chime Tower outside of Clark’s Gaiser Hall for speeches opposing Initiative 1639, the gun-safety law before voters this November.
