Junior wide receiver Mikey Silveira, Jr. tallied 108 yards receiving and two touchdowns as the Seton Catholic Cougars erupted for 26 points in the second half to pick up their first ever 1A Trico league win, 26-19, over the visiting King’s Way Knights on Saturday.
Both teams finished 1-4 in 1A Trico League play and 3-6 overall.
Senior Joey Deary’s 15-yard interception put the Cougars ahead to stay 20-19 and and Silveira, Jr. caught his second touchdown pass of the day soon after for some breathing room.
After a scoreless first quarter the Knights got their passing game going. Junior quarterback Kemper Shrock hit junior tight end Bryce Dodge with a swing pass that resulted in an 8-yard touchdown, and later in the quarter completed a short crossing route that freshman wide receiver Bryson Metz turned into a 46-yard touchdown.
The two teams traded touchdowns to open the second half, and then the Cougars scored the game’s final three touchdowns.
