VANCOUVER – A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Columbia River Yacht Club on Hayden Island in Portland for Dave Christensen, the Vancouver yacht builder who died Oct. 15.
Christensen was a club member for 42 years. He launched Christensen Shipyards in 1983, believing he could build a better product than what was available. He went on to build a company that was one of the best known in the world for building yachts of 130 feet in length or more. He stepped away from the business, later renamed Christensen Shipyards, in 2009.
