BRUSH PRAIRIE — The Clark County Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners swore in Rick Steele as a new commissioner earlier this month, replacing Richard Deleissegues, who died in early September.
The board chose Steele on Sept. 24, and he took his oath of office Oct. 8.
Steele retired in January from the Vancouver Fire Department — where he worked as a firefighter, captain, then battalion chief — after 33 years.
According to the district, Steele has been a Clark County resident his entire life. He lives with his wife in the Venersborg area after spending 30 years in Hockinson. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Steele and his wife enjoy traveling in their motor home to national parks and gardening.
