Clark County Fire District 6 warns community of firefighter imposter

Clark County Fire District 6 on Friday warned of a man who’s posing as a firefighter to conduct “fire inspections” in the community.

The imposter reportedly entered a Hazel Dell senior citizen assisted-living center around midnight wearing a shirt, witnesses say, that looked similar to a T-shirt worn by Fire District 6 fire personnel, according to a news release.

Witnesses reported that the man said he was a firefighter and wanted to perform a fire inspection. Employees at the center suspected that the man was an imposter, however, because he arrived in the middle of the night.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene, but the man left before they arrived, the news release states.

Fire District 6 says it would never send an employee to do fire inspections, because those are performed by the fire marshal’s office, and all employees carry identification.

Anyone who thinks they’ve encountered an individual posing as a firefighter should call 911.
