The Skyview Storm were blue on Friday, and for the first time this season, that was a good thing.

Jalynnee McGee rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns and Yaro Duvalko passed for 178 yards and four touchdowns as the Storm rolled to their first home win of the season, a 42-7 non-league rout of Olympia.

“It’s nice to win one in the blue jerseys for a change,” Skyview coach Steve Kizer said.

In an odd twist, prior to Friday night, all of Skyview’s wins this season have come on the road — at Columbia River, Rogers-Puyallup and Battle Ground.

But the Storm had been 0-3 on their home turf, Kiggins Bowl. To their credit, the Storm have faced stiff competition at home this season, including top-ranked Union and No. 2 Mount Si.

“We came into tonight just looking for something we could hang our hat on, and then go to that,” Kizer said. “And we did that.”

Early on, the Storm decided to go to McGee, who carried the ball on all four of Skyview’s first four plays. He had a 41-yard run on the game’s second play from scrimmage, which set up his 2-yard touchdown run two plays later.

The Storm mixed in passes with a few runs on their second possession, ending with McGee’s 3-yard TD run.

McGee capped Skyview’s third drive by taking a screen pass on third-and-12 and racing 32 yards for a touchdown and a 21-0 lead before the first quarter ended.

Duvalko was also very efficient, completing 13 of 17 passes. Sophomore Xavier Owens caught six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, and Gavin Baskette had four catches for 49 yards and a score.

The Skyview defense pitched a shutout into the fourth quarter when their 42-0 lead led to a running clock.

“We worked at getting better at our base defense,” Kizer said. “And I thought we played well on defense.”

Skyview held Olympia (1-6) to 139 yards of offense, 76 of which came after the game went to a running clock. Cooper Barnum had a sack and pass deflection for the Storm.

Skyview (4-3) will look to keep its road winning streak going in a key 4A Greater St. Helens League game next week at Camas.
