Columbia River scored a season-high in points to keep pace for a 2A Greater St. Helens League football playoff berth.
The Chieftains opened the scoring its first possession — a 47-yard touchdown run — on its way to a 20-7 halftime lead. Jackson Fobbs’ 7-yard touchdown run to open the third quarter made the lead 27-7 before the Lumberjacks got as close as 27-19 early in the fourth quarter.
That’s when River scored 28 unanswered points that included a 30-yard score by WIll Buss from quarterback Dawson Lieurance and a rushing score by Jarrett Seelbinder.
River hosts Woodland, which faces Ridgefield on Friday, at Chieftain Stadium on Oct. 19 in its 2A GSHL finale.
