Two people were killed Saturday night and two injured, one of them with life-threatening injuries, in a single-car crash in the Hockinson area, Clark County authorities said.

Rescuers responding to a 911 call made at 11:22 p.m. found the car on fire at Northeast 182nd Avenue and 139th Street.

One of the dead victims — identified as Isabella P. Huyck, 19, of Tumwater — was inside the burning car, which Fire District 3 firefighters extinguished, a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release says. The other, Aaron T. Jones, 34, of Vancouver was found on the ground outside the vehicle.

A woman found on the ground by rescuers, Lindsay Winter, 33, of Hillsboro, Ore., was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the news release, while a fourth passenger, Derek P. Martin, 24, of Vancouver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

It appeared a Toyota Scion XB was traveling west and downhill on Northeast 139th Street and the vehicle continued through a stop sign at T-intersection at Northeast 182nd Avenue “at significant speed,” the release says, “striking a tree on the west side of Northeast 182nd Avenue.” The vehicle then caught fire.

The car involved was registered to Huyck, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office traffic unit is continuing an investigation.
