Vancouver – Susan Finley, an education professor at Washington State University Vancouver, received the Ormsby Award for Faculty Citizenship, the university announced Thursday.

Finley was recognized for her community engagement in helping to support students and families who live in poverty or who are homeless.

The award was created in 2013 to honor civically engaged faculty from the six public baccalaureate programs in Washington. It’s named for Rep. Timm Ormsby, D-Spokane.
