Portland – A local couple and #Every28Days, a monthlong effort to collect pads and tampons for women and girls in poverty, will be honored Nov. 7 as part of the 32nd Philanthropy Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower Hotel.

The luncheon, put on by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Oregon and Southwest Washington, celebrates National Philanthropy Day.

Connie and Lee Kearny are receiving the Vollum Award for Lifetime Philanthropic Achievement, which is given to individuals who fund and enlist financial support for charitable causes. They’ve supported Oregon State University, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington. #Every28Days is getting the Outstanding Volunteer Group award. Earlier this year, the group collected 16 pallets of feminine hygiene products that were given to homeless shelters and other nonprofits serving those in need.
