A Multnomah County, Ore., grand jury handed down a nine-count indictment against a former Vancouver man who is accused of attempting to kill a woman during a home-invasion last month in Corbett, Ore., Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced Thursday.
Pavel Y. Mikhay, 26, is set to appear Friday before Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Angel Lopez to be arraigned on the indictment: one count of attempted murder, four counts of first-degree burglary, and one count each of first-degree assault, strangulation, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.
An indictment is only an accusation of a crime; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The indictment, filed Thursday, alleges Mikhay unlawfully entered and remained in a residence Sept. 25 near the intersection of East Historic Columbia River Highway and Southeast Hurlburt Road in Corbett.
