Update: The crash on state Highway 500 was cleared around 7 a.m.

Original story: A crash in Vancouver and overnight maintenance work on the Interstate 5 Bridge is slowing Thursday morning traffic.

The southbound lanes of the bridge were closed from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday for inspection and maintenance, with traffic diverted onto eastbound state Highway 14, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The transportation department reported that the closures were cleared sometime shortly after when planned, but they appeared to be causing delays as morning traffic builds up.

Traffic maps showed vehicles backing up to Hazel Dell South as of 6:30 a.m.

The closures will happen again tonight and Friday.

And a collision on southbound state Highway 500 at Milepost 4.8, near the junction for Interstate 205, is blocking the right and center lanes.

WSDOT sent on an alert about the crash at about 6:17 a.m. and said commuters should expect delays until further notice.
