Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

AARP Tax Aide is recruiting volunteers to train as certified tax preparers or to provide customer service and administrative support beginning Feb. 1 at seven sites in Clark and Skamania counties. Volunteers receive free training in December and January, and are expected to volunteer four to 15 hours per week between Feb. 1 and April 15.

Clark County Veterans Assistance Center seeks volunteers to meet and greet veterans, listen with compassion and help veterans get the services they need. Set appointments, prepare snacks and coffee, and answer phones.

Furry Friends Washington, a no-kill cat shelter, seeks volunteers to help animals in residence stay clean and comfortable. Clean litter boxes, wash and dry bedding, sweep, vacuum, mop, feed and water, medicate as needed and socialize with the cats. Shifts are available Monday through Thursday mornings and Friday evenings.

The Historic Trust seeks volunteer docents to lead tours of the buildings on the Fort Vancouver grounds. Training provided. Volunteers must be comfortable speaking in front of groups, and be able to navigate the grounds and the buildings, many of which include stairs.

Salvation Army is recruiting bell ringers for the holiday season, beginning in early November. Many shifts and locations are available.
