Volunteers work more than 1,400 hours on county projects in August

Clark County — Volunteers around Clark County were active in the month of August. There were 331 active volunteers working on county projects during the month, according to the Clark County Public Works Department. They volunteered a total of 1,460 hours, or the equivalent of $36,047, according to the Public Works department newsletter. The Eco-Greenies group tackled English ivy at Tenny Creek Park, removing two truckloads full of the invasive plant, which will help native plant communities recover. The VINE Squad held its final volunteer events for the season at Leroy Haagen Park on Aug. 9 and at Tenny Creek Park on Aug. 23.
