A 52-year-old Amboy woman was treated at a hospital and then booked into the Clark County Jail following a Tuesday night crash on state Highway 503.

Washington State Patrol reported in a crash memo that Linda M. Kyllonen was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. She made a first appearance on the allegations Wednesday morning in Clark County Superior Court.

The crash memo and court records note that drugs or alcohol are believed to be a factor in the incident. Kyllonen reportedly told troopers she takes multiple prescription narcotics, according to court records.

At about 5 p.m., Kyllonen was behind the wheel of a white Honda CRV on northbound Highway 503 at Milepost 23 when she tried to make a left-hand turn into a residential driveway. Troopers said the Honda collided with a black Oldsmobile Alero headed in the opposite direction on the highway. The Alero was occupied by Brianna E. Burke, 23, of Amboy, as well as a 6-year-old boy.

Burke was injured in the crash and taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. However, she was not listed as a patient Wednesday. Court records say her right arm was broken in the crash. Her 6-year-old passenger was also injured, but he did not have to go to the hospital and was released to family, troopers said.

Kyllonen was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Her 26-year-old daughter was a passenger in the SUV but was uninjured, troopers said.

Trooper Nicholas Jennings said Kyllonen refused to cooperate while being treated at the hospital and had to be physically restrained. When he attempted to take her to the county jail, she faked a fainting spell and collapsed to the floor. Jennings attempted to handcuff Kyllonen, he said, but she pulled her arms away, prompting a nurse to help restrain her. Kyllonen then spit at hospital staff, according to court records.

On Wednesday, Judge Suzan Clark set Kyllonen’s bail at $10,000. She will be arraigned Oct. 17.

Troopers listed Kyllonen’s failure to grant right-of-way to the passing vehicle as the cause of the crash.

Both vehicles were totalled in the crash and subsequently impounded by troopers.
