CAMAS–The Camas-Washougal Community Chest launched its campaign Monday to raise $100,000 for its 2019 grants that will be given to nonprofits serving Camas and Washougal residents in need.
The organization gave out 23 grants this year totalling $83,350. That included money for Boy Scout troops in both cities, educational children’s programs at the Camas Farmers Market, tree planting and invasive plant removal at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge, food and supplies for Meals on Wheels People, family support programs run by the East County Family Resource Center in Washougal, and summer reading programs at the Camas and Washougal libraries.
People can find more information and donate to the community chest online at camaswashougalcommunitychest.org. People can also donate using Fred Meyer Community Rewards or AmazonSmile. Nonprofits can apply for grants after Oct. 15 and will be informed in March whether they will receive money.
