Women’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Clark has yet to allow a goal in Northwest Athletic Conference play, beating Clackamas 8-0 on Saturday and Chemeketa 5-0 on Wednesday. Turner Joy scored twice and six other Penguins found the back of the net as Clark outshot Clackamas 32-2.

Hannah Taie scored twice against Chemeketa and the defense did not allow a shot on goal.

Clark (9-1-0, 7-0-0) has outscored NWAC opponents 34-0.

THE WEEK TO COME

The Penguins travel on Saturday to face Lane (9-1-1, 5-1-0), which is second in the NWAC South Region. One Wednesday, Clark hosts Portland College (5-5-1, 4-3-0).

Men’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Clark lost a pair of close matches, falling on Saturday to Southwestern Oregon, 2-1, and on Wednesday to Chemeketa, 2-1. Saturday, Michael Kimbrell scored Clark’s goal in the sixth minute, but Southwestern Oregon scored twice in a three-minute stretch early in the second half. Wednesday, Chemeketa scored in the 10th and 65th minutes. Clark’s Manuel Cabrera scored in the 90th minute.

THE WEEK TO COME

Clark (1-7-1, 1-5-0) travels to face Portland College (4-3-1, 3-1-1) on Sunday.

Volleyball

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Clark (11-14, 2-2) fell in three sets at Lane. While the first two sets were close (25-23, 26-24), Lane put away the match by winning the third set 25-12. Jordan Johnson led Clark with eight kills, while Mary Schorn had 19 digs.

THE WEEK TO COME

Clark plays a pair of road matches, facing Clackamas on Friday and Mt. Hood on Wednesday.

Cross Country

THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Clark men placed 11th out of 19th teams in the small school division at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday in Salem, Ore. Calvin Dubois was the fastest Penguin, placing 59th overall and covering the 8,000 meter course in 27:37. Micah Goff was 68th overall in 27:51.

Nicky Figueras was Clark’s fastest woman, finishing 68th and clocking 20:56 for 6,000 meters.

Clark next competes on Oct. 13 at the Warner Pacific XC Classic in Portland.
