Camas — Camas High School Math, Science, Technology Magnet Program senior Kaitlin Beel spent part of her summer in Beijing through the Yale Young Global Scholars Program, a summer academic enrichment and leadership program. The program is a two-week session on Yale’s campus in New Haven, Conn., and the Yale Center Beijing. There are six sessions in Connecticut and one session in China, which is open to 90 students. Students learn from Yale professors and local professionals, as well as visit significant cultural sites. “Being able to meet people, a bunch of teenagers — who can quote Vines, who are really a lot like me — from around the world and yet be so similar was probably the best part for me,” Beel said in an update on the school’s website. “People will stick with you, and they teach you so much more than the lectures and seminars ever can.”
