Keys to Advancement Inc., a Vancouver business that matches jobs with adults with disabilities, held its first banquet last week.

At the event, Vancouver Elite Gymnastics Academy was named winner of the Evelyn Long Employer of the Year Award, given to a business with the most significant impact on building an inclusive workforce. The banquet was held Wednesday at WareHouse ’23.

Several employers were evaluated for employee production, accessibility, inclusive culture, consistent service to the community and willingness to open their doors to people with disabilities, said Keys to Advancement Director Candace Tiller. Other award nominees besides the gymnastics academy included: iQ Credit Union, downtown Vancouver location; Olive Garden, Vancouver Mall location; Brighton Enterprises; Auto Wheel Services Inc.; and Prairie Bar and Grill.

Keys to Advancement and its employees have been partnering with local businesses for almost 20 years to increase the employment rate of people with disabilities in the Vancouver area.
