A three-vehicle crash Friday morning on southbound Interstate 205 blocked all lanes of the freeway for hours and sent a Washington State Patrol trooper to the hospital.

Trooper Will Finn tweeted that the crash was being investigated as a road rage incident.

An alert from the Washington State Department of Transportation stated that the crash occurred around 9:38 a.m. near the Fourth Plain Boulevard underpass.

Witnesses told troopers a vehicle passed on the right shoulder of the freeway while a trooper was conducting a traffic stop and struck the cruiser from behind, according to Finn. He said the trooper was OK but complained of neck pain and was driven to a hospital to be examined.

One of the three people injured in the crash had to be extricated from a vehicle, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Traffic began backing up just before Padden Parkway. Motorists were diverted to Exit 30 to state Highway 500, according to the Department of Transportation.

The scene was cleared and all lanes reopened about 1:35 p.m., Finn tweeted.

One of the drivers, identified as Mikayla Tice, 23, of Battle Ground, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for minor injuries. She may face a charge of driving while under the influence of drugs, Finn said in an email, pending the crash investigation.

A second driver, Adam Walker, 28, of Washougal, was uninjured. Finn said in an email that charges are pending in the investigation.
