A brother and sister were arrested following an investigation into an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm Tuesday in Vancouver.

Myreon T. Johnson, 30, and Courtney R. Johnson, 27, were subsequently booked into the Clark County Jail. Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said the suspects are siblings.

Myreon Johnson appeared Thursday morning in Superior Court to face multiple counts of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Judge Bernard Veljacic found probable cause existed for some but not all of the allegations and set Myreon Johnson’s bail at $75,000.

Deputy Prosecutor Julie Carmena had requested $100,000 bail, citing a concern for public safety and the defendant’s criminal history, which includes convictions for terroristic threats in Georgia and battery in South Carolina.

Court records show Courtney Johnson appeared Wednesday in court. She was arrested on suspicion of obstructing and assaulting an officer, according to a police department news release. Her bail was set at $2,500, and she has since been released.

Officers were dispatched Tuesday to the 6500 block of Northeast 18th Street for a report of a brandishing.

“The victims, two adults and a young child, were in their vehicle on 18th Street when an unknown male in a silver SUV confronted them and pointed a firearm at them,” police said.

Carmena said during Myreon Johnson’s court appearance that he pointed a gun at the family due to a road rage incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case against Myreon Johnson, the brandishing happened when the SUV and victims’ vehicle were driving side-by-side. The SUV then stopped in front of the victims’ vehicle. A man “exited the passenger side door, walked up to (the victims’) driver side door and said ‘do we have a problem?’ with the gun down by his side.”

A short time after the alleged brandishing, Vancouver police responded to the area of East Fourth Plain Boulevard and Brandt Road for a report of gunshots. Once there, officers located shell casings, a handgun and the silver SUV described as being involved in the road rage incident, police said.

Courtney Johnson ignored officers’ commands and tried to push through them when she was told her vehicle “was being seized for a search warrant,” according to a probable cause affidavit. She allegedly kicked an officer when being placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, the affidavit says.

The police department said the two incidents continue to be investigated.
