A Vancouver man arrested following a car chase — and after his own car hit him when he bailed and ran — is being held on $22,500 bail, according to the Clackamas County, Ore., Sheriff’s Office.

Isaiah John Gellatly, 31, faces charges of second-degree theft, reckless driving and two counts each of attempting to elude police and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. He was booked into the Clackamas County Jail after being treated at a hospital for a broken leg suffered when his leg became pinned under his vehicle’s wheel Nov. 19.

Gellatly drove away when a deputy in Happy Valley, Ore., tried to contact him in connection to a theft call, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said Gellatly led officers on a chase, ending when he pulled into a business park and hopped out of the car. He tried to slip away in front of the car, while it was moving, and was struck.

Investigators found numerous stolen items inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
