When Robert Franks decided to return to Washington State, he hoped a big senior year would boost his NBA Draft stock.

So far, everything is going as planned for the senior from Evergreen High.

Franks had 24 points and 11 rebounds in Washington State’s 80-52 win over Delaware State on Saturday. He is third in the nation in scoring with 28.3 points per game.

By returning for his senior season, Franks is climbing the Washington State career scoring list. He entered Tuesday night’s game against Cal State Northridge 149 points shy of 1,000 career points. He would become the 37th Cougar to reach that mark.

Franks is also one of 20 nationally on the watch list for the Julius Irving Small Forward of the Year award.

Men’s Basketball

Jordan Chatman, a senior from Union, tied his season high by scoring 20 points in Boston College’s 78-66 win over Loyola-Chicago on Nov. 21. He is averaging 13.5 points through six games.

Daelon Floyd, a sophomore from Battle Ground, is averaging 11.3 points through three games for Lewis and Clark. He scored 12 in an 83-72 loss to Lewis-Clark State on Saturday.

Volleyball

Cameron Davies, a freshman from Skyview, was named to the Frontier Conference’s all-freshman team. The middle blocker helped University of Providence to its first ever NAIA tournament berth, with pool play scheduled this week. The Great Falls, Mont., school won the Frontier Conference tournament earlier this month.

Brooke Van Sickle, a redshirt sophomore from Battle Ground, had seven kills, nine digs and two aces as Oregon closed out the regular season with a four-set win over Oregon State. The No. 17-ranked Ducks (20-10) will host New Mexico State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

Page Heller, a junior from Columbia River, set Colorado State-Pueblo’s single-season digs record earlier this month. She finished the season with 522 digs (5.38 per set) and was named honorable-mention all-conference.

Ashley Watkins, a junior from Battle Ground, finished this season No. 6 on Montana’s career assist list. She averaged 10.56 assists per set this season and has 2,556 for her career.

Men’s Soccer

Levan Zhividze, a freshman from Evergreen, had two shots in Corban University’s 2-1 loss to No. 2 Oklahoma Wesleyan in the second round of the NAIA Playoffs on Tuesday. Zhividze ended his season with seven goals in 20 matches.

Ahmon Afenegus, a senior from Mountain View, completed his career at Southern Oregon, which lost 2-0 to unbeaten Rio Grand (Ohio) in the second round of the NAIA playoffs on Monday. Afenegus, a midfielder who has been with the Raiders since the program’s inception, started 18 of 23 matches in a season that saw Southern Oregon achieve its first national ranking.

Women’s Soccer

Taryn Ries, a sophomore from Ridgefield, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Women’s All-West Region Second Team after scoring a career-best 15 goals for Portland this season. The forward ranked seventh nationally in both goals (15) and game-winners (6). She led the West Coast Conference in both categories.
