Today is Giving Tuesday, when people make a point to give to causes and charities at the start of the holiday shopping season. According to SmartAsset, people in Clark County do a lot of giving. The personal finance company found Clark County the third most generous county in the state based on an analysis of IRS data.
The company looked at the portion of county taxpayers who made charitable contributions as well as charitable contributions as a percentage of net income. Net income was determined by subtracting total taxes paid and mortgage interest, points and insurance payments from total income.
In Clark County, charitable donations comprised 25.1 percent of net income, and 57.6 percent of taxpayers donated to charity.
San Juan and King counties were the first and second most charitable in the state while Snohomish and Kitsap rounded out the top five, according to SmartAsset.
