Vancouver firefighters investigated the smell of gas at a shopping center in the North Image neighborhood, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

A Vancouver Fire Department crew was dispatched to 11505 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd. for the report of an inside gas smell.

The smell reportedly originated from inside the National Guard recruiting office in Orchards.

People were evacuated from an unknown number of buildings as a precaution, according to the scanner.

NW Natural responded to the location, and fire crews left the scene after about an hour. The fire department did not return calls for more information.
